Sanrin Cultural Arts Center
The Sanrin Cultural Arts Center will be the primary hub of programs and activity held on the Swiss Pines grounds. Our goal is to create an opportunity for local residents to make Swiss Pines a part of their life and share in nature, culture, and learning with other residents. We also hope to make Swiss Pines a destination for interesting visitors and events, adding exceptional value to an already beautiful and thriving Chester County.
Garden Access Memberships
We want people to make strolling these gardens part of their weekly routine. The changing flowers, lighting, wildlife, and weather makes it a new experience every time you visit.
We’re exploring one-off, monthly, and annual memberships to make accessing the gardens easy and affordable. By charging a small recurring rate we can develop actual reliable revenue with which to reinvest in additional rehabilitation.
The grounds are not yet accessible but we hope you’ll bring your friends and family here once they are.

Doors we hope to open again.
Educational Classes
Part of Arnold Bartschi’s original vision was to create a destination where people could learn about nature and culture. That is part of our focus as well.
Class offerings will vary based on instructor availability, but we are aiming to offer some or all of the following:
- Nature and Gardening
- Painting / Scuplture / Photography
- Ikebana (flower arranging)
- Traditional Dance
- Taiko Drumming
- Foreign Language
- Tea Ceremony
Martial Arts and Fitness Programs
There are few locations in the USA better suited to understanding the deep philosophy, wellness, and fitness aspects of martial arts than Swiss Pines. As such, it is a focus of ours to celebrate such programs.
Class offerings will vary based on instructor availability, but we are aiming to offer some or all of the following:
- Okinawa Kenpo Self Defense and Weaponry
- Japanese Swordsmanship
- Taichi
- Yoga
If you have any additional ideas or know someone who would be well suited to instruct classes of this nature, please let us know.

Wedding Events
Swiss Pines has a long and storied history of hosting weddings. In fact, there is a beautiful wedding walk situated just outside the large Llewellyn Manor House.
The wedding walk was sturdily built and could be rehabilitated with relative ease, making weddings an option once again.
Corporate / Group Events
Many companies and social groups find themselves looking for interesting locations to hold their events. The diversity of land available on the Swiss Pines grounds opens it many possibilities.
Potential ideas for retreats include corporate team building, cultural festivals, hiring fairs, Renaissance Faires, and more.

Cultural Demonstrations / Shows
Swiss Pines has a history of cultural celebrations, inviting individuals from Japan to conduct ceremonies and celebrations.
The grounds provide an opportunity for both indoor and outdoor events and is ideally suited to demonstrations like tea ceremony and shows like Taiko drumming.
After School Programs
Skilled teachers and care workers can craft a variety of activities related to nature and cultural enrichment.
In order to preserve the meditative and contemplative aura of the gardens, after school programs can have a dedicated hour after normal school for child access to the classrooms and gardens. Think of it like a reverse-adult-swim.
